Meeting called to order at 6:06 p.m.

Pledge of Allegiance

All members and guests stood and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by BPA’s First grader Addi King.

Freedom of Information Act Compliance

The meeting is in full compliance with the Freedom of Information Act

Motions

Motion to move the meeting forward to financials made by James Galyean; Donelle Millwood 2nd. Motion carries. February and March minutes will be moved for approval during the May meeting.

Public Comment

No public comment.

April Financials

An update on financials was provided by Deirdre McCullough. Currently, there are 88 students enrolled. The budget was based on 90 students and the 105th day reflected 92 students.

P&I Update

Update on the 2019-2020 P&I grant provided by Deirdre McCullough. The deadline for P&I expenditures has been extended from April to August due to the impact of the Corona virus.

Board Reports and Updates

Distance Learning: BPA was flipped to a virtual platform on March 16, 2020 in response to Governor Henry McMaster. The students received 10 days of material to work on daily through March 31. The students turned in the first 10 days of work on April 1st. Distance learning was extended until April 30, 2020. 

Free material was released from Core Knowledge and is being utilized in the virtual classroom. Chromebooks were released to all of the students on April 1st when the students turned in the 10 day distance learning packet. Google classroom is being used in each class and each teacher has designated virtual office hours. All standards are begin met during distance learning.

Academic Calendar

BPA’s academic calendar for 2020-2021 will follow Anderson District 2’s 2020-2021 academic calendar. Motion to approve the 2020-2021 academic calendar made by Magon Wilson; Donelle Millwood 2nd. Motion carries. 

11.

Miscellaneous from the Board

James wanted to notify the Board about an EMO contractual document that will be sent via email. Board members should read through the Education Management Organization (EMO) draft prior to the May meeting. Any questions, concerns, or comments regarding the EMO draft will be addressed during the May board meeting.
