September Financials

September financials reviewed. BPA is receiving reimbursements. More will be discussed in Board Reports and Updates.

Board Reports and Updates

Secretary DeVos’ Visit- US Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, US Deputy Secretary Mick Zais, and SC Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman had a wonderful visit at BPA on October 27.

Title I Allocation- Focus of the plans are to address the middle performance student. There is a plan in place for the lower performing students. The curriculum sufficiently challenges the higher performing student. Two Interventionist would be needed during the school day to help with reading and other learning needs.

Title II Allocation- Funding is for Professional Development. Mrs. McCullough polled the faculty’s needs. Diane Hamilton will visit BPA and evaluate each classroom to ensure teachers are implementing CKLA appropriately.

CRF Allocation (Coronavirus Relief Fund)- Originally the CARES Act, the funding was used to fund the afterschool program.

IDEA Allocation and Approved Plan- Speech Language Pathologist services will be covered within the funding.

CARES Act Approved Amendment- First round of CARES Act was used primarily on custodial services. Remaining fund were allocated for postage, and chrome book bags.

Open Enrollment- Currently there are 24 K5 students registered for the 2021-2022 academic year. BPA will begin advertising for the 2021-2022 academic year soon.

16 available spots remain in the upcoming K5

There are available spots throughout the upper level grades.

Building Update

James Galyean met with the SBC Deacon Board the end of October and will tentatively address the congregation the first Sunday of December.

James will propose a tentative plan to add a modular building to accommodate an additional 10-11 full size classrooms.

Tentative long-term plan, BPA will build additional space on the campus and renovate to add additional square footage. Tentatively BPA would begin paying rent in January 2021 at a set price per student.

Board Elections

Bylaws need to be amended to allow for stagger 2-year terms. Motion to amend Bylaws to allow for stagger terms made by James Galyean; Angie King 2nd. Motion carries.

All parents received a nomination ballot last week.

Ballots with the nominated names will be sent to parents November 12 & 13. These ballots are due November 20.

Ballots will be counted by a third party on November 23 and announced. These newly elected members will take the seats of the two current board members whose term has ended.

Executive Session

Motion to end Executive Session made by James Galyean; Angie King 2nd. Motion carries.

Chris announced there was a discussion of extending additional sick days to remedy a miscommunication regarding benefits from last year. Motion to approve by James Galyean; Donelle Millwood 2nd. Motion carries unanimously.

10.

Miscellaneous from the Board

EMO Contract will go before the Board of the Institute Wednesday, November 18, 2020. The EMO Contract may or may not be approved. James Galyean and Craig Wooten stepped down as BPA Board Members.
