Parent Teacher Association Organization
|
The bylaws were provided for the Board Members to review. One option is for the school to officially adopt a PTO or to have a committee led by volunteers. At current time, the suggestion to table PTO was suggested and begin to identify a person who would be a good leader to guide the direction of the committee. Deirdre suggested that there be a clause stating reasons that the Board could dissolve the committee if necessary. Discussion tabled at this time.

Appointment of New Board Member

Discussion continues for potential prospect to be appointed as the seventh Board Member.

|
Term for board members is two years. Election of members will be discussed at a later time.

Board Reports and Updates
|
Enrollment: 101 enrolled for the academic year 2019-2020
|

|
Modular Units: Duke Power was delayed by hurricane but is scheduled to come out September 10, 2019. OSF will inspect after Duke Power. Once OSF approves the teachers will be able to move into the units with the students.
Construction and Repairs: Playground equipment has financial coverage in the P&I budget. The fence around the playground is not covered by P&I budget. The Board is looking into ways to raise funds to fund the fence construction.
Important Dates: Fall Festival October 27th. BPA will partner with SBC for the fall festival.

Patty Barrett was hired for 3-day/week Related Arts and will be moved into a full-time 5-day/week position.

Public Comments
|
Adam Sartain expressed parents’ concern for safety of the kids in the modular units. The security infrastructure reviewed by Deidre McCullough.

Miscellaneous from the Board
|
A ‘No Homework’ policy was asked to be considered by one of the BPA parents. The Pros and Cons of homework was discussed by the board members. No action taken at this time.
